National Guard Coming to Berlin to Support Snow Recovery Efforts

BERLIN, Md. – Berlin Mayor Zack Tyndall announced on Monday afternoon that the National Guard would be entering the town to assist with snow recovery efforts.

“Last night, I made an official request to the state for deployment of the National Guard to help our town with the aftermath of the blizzard,” said Mayor Tyndall in a message posted to social media. “Members of the National Guard will be working with our town departments to clear snow, debris, and work towards restoring power town-wide.”

Troops are expected to arrive between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Feb. 23. Residents are advised to stay off roads as responders work to clear snow and debris.

Mayor Tyndall has also asked residents to turn off any unnecessary appliances and lights to help us as crews work to re-energize the lines. The entire town was reportedly without power starting at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22.
