Salisbury announces Adopt-A-Road Program
SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury has officially announced the launch of its new Adopt-A-Road program, giving residents and organizations the opportunity to help keep local roadways clean while promoting environmental responsibility and community pride.
The initiative encourages volunteers to “adopt” stretches of roadway within city limits and participate in litter clean-up efforts aimed at reducing roadside trash. City officials say the program is designed to improve public safety, preserve natural habitats, and protect local waterways from debris that can wash into the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding historic waterways.
“Keeping Salisbury clean and beautiful is something those who live and work here can take pride in, and the Adopt-A-Road program is a great way for residents and organizations to make a real difference,” said Randy Taylor. “Together, we can protect our environment, enhance our community and ensure a better tomorrow for the place we call home.”
Volunteers who join the program will help collect litter and recyclables, raise awareness about environmental stewardship, and contribute to maintaining a cleaner and safer environment throughout the city.
To recognize participating groups, the city will install roadside signs identifying adopters and highlighting their commitment to community service. Officials say the signs are intended to showcase civic pride and encourage others to take part.
Safety remains a top priority for the program. The city will provide volunteers with safety vests, disposable work gloves, and trash bags. Participants are also encouraged to post warning signs during clean-up activities and follow all traffic and safety guidelines.
Residents interested in participating can find additional details and sign-up information through the City’s “Get Involved” resources and Adopt-A-Road guidelines.
