Virginia Couple Arrested Following Road Rage Incident In Somerset Co.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Maryland State Police (MSP) arrested a couple from Virginia following a road rage incident in Somerset County on Saturday.

Troopers arrested 31-year-olds Kiana and Rendell Chandler, both of Painter. Kiana was criminally charged with first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment and related charges, and later released on $30,000 unsecured bond. Rendell was charged with possessing a handgun in a vehicle, and later released on his own recognizance.

Around 2:20 p.m. on Feb. 7, troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack responded to the area of southbound Route 13, south of Revells Neck Road, for the report of an alleged road rage incident involving a firearm. The victim involved, who is not being identified at this time, called 911 to report the incident.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was driving and came up behind a blue Volkswagen with Virginia plates. The victim advised police that the driver of the Volkswagen, later identified as Kiana Chandler, then brake checked him. As the victim proceeded to pass the Volkswagen by switching lanes, Kiana pointed a gun at him. There were no injuries reported.

Troopers, accompanied by officers from the Pocomoke City Police Department, located the blue Volkswagen shortly after the incident. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop just prior to the Maryland-Virginia state line. Police located a 9mm hand gun with a loaded magazine in the vehicle before taking the Chandlers into custody.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Princess Anne Barrack at 443-260-3700. This incident remains under investigation.
