PRMC implementing a new electronic medical record system

medical record system-starting november first. it’s replacing the older system, which will be taken off the market in the next couple of years. 47 abc’s justina coronel has the details on how this will affect patients. track 1 the record-keeping system at prmc — according to hospital officials — is about to be among the best globally — as the hospital will transition to a new enterprise medical report or emr — called “epic.” epic is number one in the world, it is the best emr that’s out there for both hospitals, emergency departments and also for a clinical stage, the involuntary which are the office practices. track 2 chief medical technology officer chris snyder says this new system means prmc can share information within a single platform — meaning a more streamlined experience for patients. when you call to schedule an appointment, when you present for services, when you arrive in our emergency department, all of the information that is collected and associated with the processes we use to care for you will collected in that enterprise medical record. track 3 chief technology officer, ray adkins says clients will still have the ability to access patient records through the hospital portal — we will continue to have a ‘mypencare’ but it will now be supported by a platform called mychart. its concept is very similar what we have today but from a functionality perspective, we’ll be expanding those capabilities. track 4 but that expansion — and transition to the newer platform — has already taken a lot of work. there’s been a huge amount of training, we’ve trained over 500 providers and then all of the clinical staff to help support the doctors and clinical staff to apply the new tool to patient care. track 5 work that adkins says — will pay off for the patient. i think it provides us with, again that foundation will support improved care, improved access, more efficiency, and from a patient stand point, the ability for us to interact with them, engage with the in a much better way than we’ve been able to do before track 6 justina coronel 47 abc p-r-m-c advises patients to be patient if there is a bit of wait on november first– due to all the changes occuring that day. file- the flu virus, delaware, blue hen corporate center in delaware delaware health
