Knight, Smyrna run through Riders

Junior running back Will Knight finished with 5 touchdowns as Smyrna defeated Caesar Rodney 64-28. The win is Smyrna’s 18th straight victory dating back to last season.

The Eagles would jump on top 24-0 after one quarter, thanks to three Knight scores. Julian Trammel had a 105-yard interception return for touchdown to get CR on the board in the second quarter. Trammel’s return would be followed by two Jared Waggenhoffer touchdowns in the quarter, as Smyrna went into the half with a 40-21 lead. Knight would cap off his night with his fifth and final score (4 yards) in the third quarter.

Both teams are back in action next Friday when Smyrna visits Cape Henlopen, while CR hosts Polytech.
