Man Arrested for Felony Theft of AC Parts from Laurel Churches
LAUREL, Del. – The Delaware State Police have arrested a man in connection with theft of air conditioning (AC) parts from multiple churches.
On Jan. 23, police arrested 50-year-old Chad Wray of Laurel on six counts of theft greater than $1,500, five counts of criminal mischief greater than $5,000 in property damage, and related charges. He was arraigned and released on a $23,600 unsecured bond.
On Jan. 6, troopers responded to Saint Matthews First Baptist Church for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, they learned that an unknown suspect entered the property and removed parts from the church’s two AC units.
On Jan. 22, troopers responded to ELIM Delaware Church for a similar theft. Troopers learned that an unknown suspect entered the property and removed parts from the church’s three AC units.
During the investigation, detectives were notified that the Laurel Police Department was investigating a similar theft at a residence on the 100 block of East Fifth Street. Through investigative means, authorities identified Wray as the suspect in the thefts and obtained warrants for his arrest.
