Highlights from today's games.

night for playoffs in a couple of sports in maryland.. yeah david, the games are over…its win or go home time. we had a couple of teams trying to get into state finals in field hockey, and a couple more looking to get a title runs inside. beginning with the top seed in the 3-a east..the bennett clippers. these ladies won the bayside south last week, but went on a quest today for a bigger prize hosting chesapeake in the second round of the playoffs. and the lady clippers wouldn ‘t get off to the best start, ace there by sydney weisenberg..little later cougars volleying one up for their star allie fisher, she comes up with the kill. they would go up 12-4 in the first set but here come the clippers. morgan esham with an ace of her own… then its faith smith playing up close to the net, she gets the spike to go. then check out cassie lecates, big kill gets just inside the line for another point. and esham one more time up at the net for the block, bennett turns the tide, wins this match 3 games to none. kent island on the road looking to score the upset against north caroline, early on macy strump making her prescence felt, shes up at the net causing havoc. but oh those dawgs, theyre not gonna just lay down at home, julia edris sends a screamer for points pumping her team up. but the bucs would weather the storm, and write the ship. it’s the d-s-i legend hannah moran showing off the touch. kent island advances with a 3-0 win. while playoff volleyball heated up the inside of high school campuses today..field hockey had the scene outdoors today. the kent island buccaneers were looking to advance to their third state championship in program history in action this afternoon against manchester valley. and you could tell these ladies came into this one locked in…first corner drawn by the bucs and watch abby carpenter fire one past the keep for the 1-0 lead. later, ki’s offense still working, carpenter driving and dishing one off to celina kaufman..2-0 the bucs lead, they would take a 2-1 lead into halftime. three minutes into the second half, kaufman using the backhand to push one thru..and at this point they could feel it… and who would finish it off but abby carpenter, the wake forest commit puts the icing on the cake with her third point of the game…the buc does not stop here, kent island headed to the title game with a 5-1 win tonight. getting the first goal in is sort of a momentum kind of thing, so when that goes in its kind of like a confidence booster, for the entire team thinking, oh-we’ve got this, we just gotta keep building past that first goal. queen anne’s looking for their state title appearance ever in field hockey facing patterson mill. lions would lead 2-0..huskies with a shot but a great save by keeper emily lanehart. lions on a breakaway this time, but it’d be grace baltimore of patterson mill with the great pad save to keep it at just two. minutes later lions still knocking at the door kelsey graef just inches from putting that one in the back of the cage. but they would get that final insurance goal, mckenna blick puts this one away. queen anne’s wins 3-nothing..these ladies made history, first time ever queen anne’s makes a field hockey final. its definintely unbelieveable, this has been our goal all season, and to finally see it come true is like its magical. and this group of girls is the best group of girls ive ever played with, we have awesome chemistry and its awesome to be with them. that’s it for sports. good news is just ahead- keep it right here — you’re watching 47 abc! catch more of the action on our sports page at 47abc.com hairstyles brought to you by designer’s edge
