Community helps Funky Monkeys raise funds for Globals

At Headquarters Live in Salisbury, local families enjoyed some live music all to raise money for the group Funky Monkeys heading to Globals.

The Funky Monkeys consists of five Salisbury Middle School students, which are a part of a Destination Imagination program.

It's where student teams solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournaments.

They've made it all the way to the Global Finals in Tennessee this year, but to make the trip they need a little help from the community.

So with the help of AMP Studios or Academy of Musical Performance and their bands consisting of local kids, folks enjoyed some talented musicians benefiting the team.

Two Funky Monkeys' tell 47 ABC that they we're selling snacks, sodas, cotton candy, and popcorn to help raise the funds, while also having the AMP bands playing.

One of their team members is actually in one of the bands.

Last year, the Funky Monkeys placed 7th at Globals and are hoping to do even better this year.
