special day for a lot of local athletes across the shore that’s right years of hard work for a lot of our athletes is finnally paying off its national signing day and we had several athletes taking that next step towards playing in college queen anne’s was our first stop this morning, as the lions got to celebrate the special occasion with conner allen. the field hockey star is set now to continue playing next year at university of delaware.. a team currently ranked 8th in the nation the senior has played a huge roll in the break through season for the lions, helping them to their first ever state title appearance this saturday “i feel so blessed to have had this opportunity. to be able to go to states and to also be able to go to the school of my dreams. so, i feel very relieved, for sure.” heading back down here to the bayside south parkside’s baseball program has done it again, sending 3 players to the college level grant burleson signed with maryland while sean fisher committed to be a terp and conner shockley is headed to u-s-c sumter finally, lindsay mooney has signed to swim in college at bloomsburg “good a good education, and make it all four years with the baseball program. i never though growing up that i’d be in this situation. feels great.” heading over to berlin 11 seahawks set to take their games to the next level savannah schultz has signed to play soccer at robert morris, while matt kristick is headed to temple for golf will sass will be playing baseball next year at u-s-c sumter as their girls lacrosse team how about this..7 headed to the college level lexie van kirk has signed with james madison, claire poster with old dominion and rachel florek with towson sisters jillian mitrecic & sara mitrecic will play at queens univeristy while victoria kerkovich signed with indian university of p-a, and christina romano with george mason. “they just like brought me under their wing pretty much, made me feel like family. i felt like i really belonged here and it was really nice of them. this is like what i have been looking forward to since i was a little girl. when i was with my sister, i watched her sign 2 years ago. ever since then it has always been my dream to be able to do this.” taking things down into virginia at chincoteague high school how about trey fisher who has signed to play his college baseball at old dominion the one time conference player of the year becomes just the second ponie in school history to ever play at the division 1 level “i just thank my coaches and all for training me. all my years and i’m just really greatful to be going somewhere. i been training for this for a long time.” and a special day for one lacrosse player at worcester prep as well leigh lingo has signed to play at virginia tech now that comes after she’s had a monster career for the mallards, helping them win the last 3 easiac titles “all the support from everyone. and my coaches really helped me. and my parents were really supportive the whole time. and everyone helped out.” that’s it for sports – more news and weather straight ahead. stay with us. catch more of the action on our sports page
