Alleged KKK sightings at UMES

ku-klux-klan members on campus. and now those allegations are spreading across facebook and twitter. 47 abc’s julian sadur spoke with students and university officials today. he joins us live — at a location near campus. julian — are there any truth to the rumors? hey – emily – so here’s the catch with all of this – a bunch of people have claimed to have seen kkk members either on campus or around here on these train tracks behind me – but there’s no pictures of this. and here’s the thing – students i spoke to say now a days everyone carries around one of these – a cell phone – so the fact that no picture evidence exists – makes people think this may all just be a hoax. track thursday on twitter – page after page of people tweeting and retweeting about alleged kkk sightings on the campus of university of maryland eastern shore. some scared – some unsure – but one thing for certain – a hot topic among students. one person tweeting -“second kkk sighting here at umes on the train tracks y’all, be safe.don’t walk alone” according to another person on twitter who we reached out to – the alleged first sightingcame behind the student services center – in dark area outlined here in the photo. however students we spoke to in person at arden’s run – near campus – say things don’t line up. somebody said they was at the ssc last night, but i don’t believe that “and why don’t you believe it” like they record everything else but that, like you can get a fight, you can get girls twerking at a party but you can’t get the kkk “so you believe if the kkk was around here somebody would record it” somebody would record it, yeah i know i would track another student tyrone holmes agreeing — no evidence to him means there’s no cause for concern. 064511 i haven’t seen any photos or proof of it and i know how college students are if one person says something then everybody jumps on the band wagon and like so who’s to say it’s even real 064520 track another theory brought up – this is just all a prank. i mean i seen a couple things you know, but a lot of people were doing this with the clowns, you know what i’m saying, it’s like an epidemic man you know track a spokesperson for the university tells us university police looked into the allegations – reviewing all the survelliance video from all over the campus — and have not found any credible evidence to support these claims. now i have word that campus police has not closed their investigation yet and are still looking into these allegations. earlier today the university president also sent out a letter to students cautioning them that if they see someing – instead of going straight to twitter – call police. in princess anne – julian sadur – 47 abc emily back to you. thanks julian. university officials also wanted to stress that they take any allegations like this seriously – and that student safety is their top piroirty. welcome back – we being our second half hour with news about greg sterling – the man
