Pair of fires at Hurlock home deemed arson

HURLOCK, Md. – An arson investigation is underway in Hurlock.

Fire crews responded to the 6,300 block of Jones Village Road on Sunday around 10:00 p.m. The fire was called in by a neighbor. It only took crews about five minutes to extinguish the flames, which caused about $2,700 in damage.

However, firefighters were called to the same address just hours later, finding the home completely enguled in flames. The second fire caused about $81,000 in damage and destroyed the structure. Investigators deemed both fires to be arson.

The homeowner has been idenfitied by investigators, but not charged. Investigators are asking the public to come forward with any information they may have about the fires. Callers may remain anonymous, and can contact the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-713-3780.
