Wicomico Co. Awarded $300K Block Grant for Housing Rehabilitation
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Wicomico County has been granted $300,000 in State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).
County Executive Julie Giordano made the announcement on Tuesday, saying that the funding will support the County’s ongoing housing rehabilitation efforts. CDBG funds are used statewide to support projects that benefit low- and moderate-income residents, address community development needs, and strengthen local neighborhoods.
“This investment will directly benefit our residents by helping preserve existing housing stock and ensuring safe, livable homes for families across our community,” said Giordano. “Housing rehabilitation is a vital component of neighborhood stability, and we are grateful to the DHCD for their continued partnership and support.”
The State CDBG Program is administered by DHCD through its Division of Neighborhood Revitalization. The award is contingent upon the execution of grant agreements between the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), DHCD, and Wicomico County.
Additional details regarding program implementation and timelines will be provided following the execution of the grant agreements. For more information about Wicomico County’s housing rehabilitation programs, residents are encouraged to contact the County’s Housing and Community Development staff.
