Perdue donates 1,000 roasters to first responders in Wicomico County
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. — Early Wednesday, Perdue surprised first responders in Wicomico County with a special holiday gift.
Wicomico County Sheriff Lt. Jessica Murphy said, “In the back, you can see our recruits. We have five. They are loading up delicious 4-pound roasters for the holiday season, and we’re going to give one out to every single employee of our agency, courtesy of Perdue.”
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is one of 16 agency partners in the county receiving 150 chicken roasters. Officials at Perdue said they were grateful for the opportunity to give back to first responders.
Perdue Farms Corporate Communications Manager Sabrina Fuller said, “We thank police officers, firefighters, 911 operators, and support staff who run the gamut. We’re working out here this morning to make sure all their teams have a holiday roaster for Christmas this year.”
Fuller emphasized the importance of supporting the local community and said it’s an honor to assist law enforcement.
“We’re a 105-year-old, family-owned company, and that value of stewardship, giving back, and keeping the community at the forefront is baked into the foundation of who we are and what we do every day,” Fuller said. “It motivates everybody.”
Lt. Murphy called it “a sweet Christmas treat.”
“People are away from their families because they’re working, and to have this extra special treat is just an act of kindness and giving at a time of year that is really needed. We really appreciate it,” Lt. Murphy said.
Perdue handed out chicken roaster from 8-9 this morning and 4-6 tonight.
