SALISBURY, Md. – Rest up if you can on Saturday, because Sunday, Dec. 7, is the BIG day!

The Yuletide Open House at Poplar Hill Mansion is running from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To wrap up the mansion’s 50th Anniversary year as a museum, we’re celebrating a 1970s Christmas on the first floor. See the beautiful floral decorations by the Four Seasons Garden Club all done in the theme, and visit the second floor to see Christmas trees with more than 1500 ornaments.

Admission to Poplar Hill is FREE and includes a small cookie bag for each guest! Additional holiday tea boxes with gourmet tea pyramids, scones and cookies will be available for purchase for $12.00.

On the same day, join the Newtown Association Holiday House Tour of historic homes and churches! After you tour the Newtown Historic District, enjoy the Outdoor Interlude with mulled wine, mulled cider, hot chocolate, cookies, holiday music, and a fire crackling in the firepit. This event only happens once every three years, so mark your calendars now!

Admission is $25 and tickets can either be purchased at Poplar Hill Mansion on the day of the tour. It will run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Lastly, the 79th Annual Salisbury Jaycee’s Christmas Parade, sponsored by Mountaire Farms, kicks off at 1:00 p.m.

The theme this year is Holly Jolly Hoedown! Nearly 100 marchers and floats are expected—including spirited marching bands, cool cars and beauty queens—and of course, Santa Claus!

Festivities will stretch down Mt. Hermon Road, starting on Civic Avenue and proceed along East Main Street to the park, with the parade concluding at 3:00 p.m. on Ward Street.
