Salisbury Police Department is preparing for Shop with a Cop
SALISBURY, Md. — The Salisbury Police Department is preparing for its annual “Shop with a Cop” program.
The program allows police officers to take a group of kids shopping with money that was donated. It helps kids pick out gifts for themselves and their families ahead of the holiday season. Kids are usually in the range of 4 to 17 years old, and they have an allotted number to spend on the shopping spree!
Salisbury Police Department, Chief David Meienschein said, “It gives them an opportunity. Do some shopping on our dime, you might say, with money and so we take them out, actually sorting it. He’s got that program as well, and it gives them an opportunity to pick out some gifts, not necessarily just for themselves. A lot of the kids pick out gifts or family members or whatnot. So it gives an opportunity again, and it’s such a way to get back as well.”
SPD is still working on a start date to kick off the program.
