Meet the Junior Board at TidalHealth

SALISBURY, Md. – In this week’s Health Beat, brought to you by TidalHealth, WMDT spoke with members of the Junior Board about the work they are doing this holiday season.

Bridget Desaulniers is president of the Junior Board, a group of volunteers raising funds and providing volunteer services for TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.

“I basically make sure that the Junior Board at TidalHealth is the community service fund or part of the hospital, making sure that we run and that we support TidalHealth and whatever initiatives that [are] going on,” she says.

Volunteers work in various parts of the hospital in differing roles. Some volunteers function as support staff for nurses in the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute, while others work in the gift shop. Desaulniers says all proceeds from the gift shop go back to whatever the greatest need at the hospital is at that time. And, the group is doing some special events to kickoff the winter holidays.

“The Junior Board Gift Shop will be having a sale from December 15th to he 18th, and we’ll be offering gift wrapping done by our volunteers, as well as bow making,” Desaulniers tells us. “We’re going to be doing dinner with the Grinch at Roadie Joe’s in Downtown Salisbury. One of our lovely TidalHealth employees or team members is going to be dressed as the Grinch for two hours… [and] Roadie Joe’s is donating back a portion of the sales that the Junior Board will then [use to] purchase toys for Brooke’s Toy Closet for the Christmas season.”

WMDT also had the opportunity to speak with Cynthia Holloway, the Junior Board’s president-elect for 2026. She told us about some of the new initiatives the board will be implementing.

“One that I’m very excited about is our rolling coffee cart, where we roll through.. probably around six or seven areas of the hospital. And, we give away coffee and hot tea.”

Holloway also spoke about their holiday wreath fundraiser, where patrons can bid on the decorative wreaths displayed around the hospital.
