Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash in Kent Co. Kills One; MSP Investigating
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon.
Around 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 20, troopers from the Centreville Barrack responded to Maryland Route 291 at Maiden Lot Farm Lane for a report of a three-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, a Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Route 291 when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed the double yellow center line, traveling into the eastbound lane. It subsequently struck a Chevy pickup truck before striking a Ram pickup truck head-on.
The driver of the Toyota Camry, identified as 85-year-old Charles Ekstrom of Suddlersville, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The driver of the Ram pickup, a 19-year-old male driver and a 20-year-old female passenger, were transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The MSP Crash Team is leading the active and ongoing investigation.
