Smyrna Wrestling gets statement win over Sussex Central to remain undefeated
SMYRNA, Del.- Beginning the night with three straight pins, the Smyrna Eagels went on to defeat Sussex Central 52-22. With the win, the Eagles move to 4-0 on the year while handing the Golden Knights their first loss of the season to drop to 4-1.
It was a battle of two of the Henlopen’s best as Smyrna welcomed in Sussex Central. Both teams coming in undefeated, it looked to be a candidate for match of the year. The Eagles jumped out to an early 37-4 lead behind three straight pins (six total) and the Golden Knights were never able to recover. Smyrna held on to get the huge 52-22 win over the Golden Knights.
The Eagles return to action this weekend when they travel to Virginia to compete in the Virginia Duals tournament. The Knights look to get back in the win column when next Wednesday when they travel to take on Sussex Tech.
