The Brightside: 1.1 million safe miles and a career of dependable driving
DELAWARE. – While you’re driving, try paying attention to how many safe drivers you spot.
Edward Hill is one of them, but he’s not driving a car, he’s driving a semi.
“I try to be safe for everybody, try to give them plenty space, try to keep my area safe, as much as I can,” said Edward.
For over a decade, Edward has been practicing safe driving in all different kinds of vehicles. School buses, small cars, and now, on his wheels of choice, an 18-wheeler that he drives for FedEx.
His driving record speaks for itself. Edward got to compete in the National Truck Driving and Step Van Driving Championships in Minnesota in August.
“In the state of Delaware, I actually got first place in flatbed, and I also got overall top pre trip score,” said Edward. “When I went to nationals, going into the finalists, I was number one to the finalist competition, and after the finalist competition, I actually got first place, which is the national champion of the flatbed class.”
He represented his home state and his company and said winning the competition is a testament to the 1.1 million safe miles he’s racked up throughout his career, and his commitment to dependable driving.
“I’m able to do my part to help keep the roads safe, flowing efficient, and be able to share the roads with everybody, and be able to safely deliver all of our pallets that we do to our wonderful customers, and to know that I’ve been rated as one of the top drivers in the nation,” said Edward.
