Secretary Opens New Water Treatment Plant
(SECRETARY, Md) – Secretary town officials have finished a project that’s been in the works for nearly 25 years.
The Twin Cities Wastewater Treatment Plant is a major upgrade from the small community’s old lagoon system.
The new plant is sharing the treatment the wastewater of both Secretary and East New Market.
And Mayor Dukes says there are a lot of possibilities now that it’s up and running.
“We now have the capacity that we need. We can now meet the requirements. It helps to clean up the tank river because all of our effluent is going out, is clean. It also means that down the road, if the state wants to increase growth into that plant, we can add modules to it,” says Mayor Susan Dukes.
The original lagoon system the new plant is replacing was first built in 1972.
