Del. Senator Karen Peterson announces retirement at end of term

Senator Karen Peterson, (D)-Stanton, announced Tuesday that she will be retiring after the end of her current term in November.
The District 9 democrat held her seat in the Senate for 14 years. We’re told she’s considered to be one of the more progressive politicians in the first state.
Throughout her time in the state legislature, she says that the one thing she’s most proud of is her role in passing the Child Victims Act of 2007.
“That allowed victims of child sex abuse to sue their abusers even after the statute of limitations had expired. I think of all the bills that got done, that’ll be my proudest.” Senator Peterson said of the bill. Said Sen. Peterson.
Currently in the Delaware Senate, Democrats hold a 12 to 9 majority. If a Republican candidate were to win District 9 in November, that gap would be shortened to 11 to 10.
