Maryland Launches Grant Program for Cyber-AI Clinics
MARYLAND – The Maryland Department of Labor and its Cyber Maryland program announced Maryland’s first ever Cyber and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Clinic Grant on Friday.
This competitive grant is designed to help grow a “cyber workforce” and “fortify the digital infrastructure” of schools, hospitals, and other community institutions. Eligible applicants include these community institutions, as well as workforce training providers and apprenticeship sponsors. Recipients can collect up to $500,000 each to create and operate Cyber and AI Clinics.
“Cyber clinics provide exciting opportunities for learners to gain real-world skills that lead to family-sustaining careers, while providing local schools, small businesses, and hospitals with cutting-edge cyber protection,” said Maryland Secretary of Labor Portia Wu.
These clinics will train Marylanders for high-demand occupations in technical roles, such as cyber engineers and cyber analysts, as well as non-technical roles in compliance, policy, and risk management. At the same time, they will deliver vital cybersecurity services to organizations that often lack the resources to protect themselves against evolving digital threats.
The clinics also seek to address the thousands of unfilled cybersecurity positions Maryland has. Grant recipients will be required to train at least 100 cyber professionals annually between 2027 and 2029.
Grant proposals are due Dec. 10, and selections will be announced in Jan. 2026. A virtual pre-proposal conference will be held on Oct. 15. To learn more, click here.
