Wicomico Co. Public Library in need of donations for community closet

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The community closet at the Wicomico County Public Library is in need of donations.

With back-to-school season here, the closet has been picked over, leaving very few items for people to choose from. Staff are calling on the community to donate new or gently used items for folks in need.

Community support manager, Cristi Richardson said they’ll take any items laying around your home that you feel someone else would get good use out of.

“I think it’s really fulfilling to give it somewhere that gives it directly to the community, rather than selling it or putting it to a different use,” said Richardson. “It goes directly to the hands of people, there’s no re-purposing of any of the items; it’s just they come in, get what they need, and we don’t expect anything from them.”

The library is in need of non-perishable food items, men’s clothing, blankets, camping materials and bags and backpacks. You can drop your donations off at the library during service hours.
