Crisfield man arrested for sexual abuse of minor, assault

CRISFIELD, Md. – A Crisfield man is facing several charges after police say he sexually abused a minor.

On August 21st, Maryland State Police obtained a warrant for the arrest of 60-year-old Gene Sheldon Hughes Jr. He was found in his home and arrested without incident. Hughes was taken to the Somerset County District Court Commissioner’s Office, where he was ordered to be held without bond.

Hughes is charged with sex abuse of a minor, second-degree assault, and other related offenses. Police say the investigation continues.
