Driver was traveling over 100 mph, under influence of alcohol in fatal Easton crash, investigators say

EASTON, Md. – An 18-year-old from Easton turned himself in after police say he was involved in a fatal crash.

The collision happened on June 17th, 2025, on Island Creek Road near the intersection of Chloras Point Road. Ellis Mitcham Newcomb was identified as one of the drivers involved. Investigators say he was traveling over 100 miles per hour and was under the influence of alcohol. A Talbot County teen was killed in the incident, and Newcomb was not injured.

Now, Newcomb is facing several charges, including vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol, and other crimes. He is being held without bond pending a hear before a Circuit Court Judge.
