Ocean Pines will construct new south fire station
OCEAN PINES, Md. – A referendum on the new South Fire Station has passed, clearing the way for construction to begin later this year.
Fire officials have been requesting a new facility after dealing with roof leaks, a lack of storage space and inadequate ventilation for exhaust fumes.
The new building is expected to be 15,000 square feet and will include Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant parking spaces and a firefighter memorial.
Ocean Pines Fire Department President Joe Enste said the community made the project possible.
“We want to say thank you to our community members. This whole project wouldn’t be at this point without their support. I know there have been people asking questions and a lot of people with great dialogue, and we thank everyone for engaging with us,” he said.
Construction is expected to begin in September or October.
