Welcome New Teachers Bag Program

SALISBURY, Md – New teachers here in Salisbury received a “new teacher” goody-bag Monday morning, through the Welcome New Teachers Bag program.

The program is meant to help recognize and appreciate new teachers starting their first school year.

Owner of Motif Expression and chamber ambassador Paula Nichols said it’s an all hands on deck effort with local businesses chipping in to fill bags with goodies – swag – classroom supplies – and treats. They also received around 50 community donations.

Nichols shared why it’s important to support our local teachers. “Well, it’s important because I came from this, you know, a different community five years ago, I didn’t know anybody. And I had to get out there and get to know people. What better way for them to try our businesses, you know, shop local, get to know our community. It really is a good community. So I would say it’s important for them to know that we are supporting them and what they have chosen to do with their career. They are teaching our children and our children are going to be our future.”

The bags are sponsored each year by the Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury.
