Lithium-ion battery sparked home fire in Pittsville last month, say investigators

PITTSVILLE, Md. – Fire investigators are blaming a lithium-ion battery failure for a home fire in Pittsville last month.

The fire broke out around 8:10 p.m. on July 9th in a garage on Heartland Drive. It took about 20 firefighters 20 minutes to control the flames. Investigators say the fire did about $30,000 in damage.

No injuries were reported.
