Dune fencing at Lewes Beach pushed back

LEWES, Del. – The City of Lewes says DNREC will not erect fencing along beach dunes this week after residents voiced concerns.
DNREC announced that they would erect fencing along the dunes during the first couple weeks of this month.
The fencing is designed to help protect the dune’s fragile habitat from the illegal dumping of boats and kayaks on the dunes.
City leaders say this project will have a huge impact on the community and say that there isn’t enough transparency.
“It’s a significant event in the City of Lewes,” said Councilman Dennis Reardon.
“It’s a change and there needs to be a public meeting to explain to the public why this being done and its for their benefit,” said Reardon.
A public meeting will take place on November 13th at 11 AM at City Hall.
