City of Crisfield gears up for Stars and Stripes Festival

CRISFIELD, Md. – The City of Crisfield is preparing for its annual 4th of July celebration.

The Crisfield Stars and Stripes Festival will take place on July 6th, with fireworks lighting up at 9:15 p.m. American Legion, the Crisfield Chamber of Commerce, and Somerset County Arts Council are holding the event, located at 1200-1300 West Main Street.

Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Ahead of the community party, Crisfield Police alerted the public about how they can celebrate safely. Police say 4th Street will be closed at the conclusion of the fireworks. No traffic will be permitted to cross West Main Street at 7th Street. The intersection at Richardson Avenue will also be closed.

Police say the road closures will help ensure an easy exit for fireworks spectators. The agency is also reminding the public that possessing fireworks or setting them off without a permit is punishable with up to $250 in fines for each offense.
