Dorchester Recreation and Parks to Begin Work on Athletic Lighting

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Dorchester County athletes will soon be able to practice and play in Cambridge, even after the sun goes down.

Dorchester County Council recently approved a bid for new lighting on the fields near the Glasgow Tennis Courts.
Officials say this will help cut down on travel time for many, as most local athletes are practicing on the athletic fields in Hurlock.

“It’s going to make it more convenient for people here in Cambridge locally to drive 15 minutes to practice here on School Street fields. It’s like you said in comparing to driving down to Hurlock. So it’s definitely going to be beneficial to the community by having the lights here for the evening practices and games,” says Dorchester Director of Recreation and Parks, Duc Trieu.

Construction is expected to be complete within 10 weeks, with the lights fully functional by November.
