N.H. man completes 50-state marathon journey in Del.

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Ranjeet Singh ran a marathon in all fifty states. To cap off his journey, he ran his very last in the First State.

Singh got the idea back in 2023. He wanted a fun and unique way to celebrate 50 trips around the sun, and what better way to ring that in than 50 trips around the US.

In just under two years, with help from YMCA branches across the nation, his sneakers touched the soil of every state, from California to Minnesota and all the way up to Alaska.

“There was a moment that came that I was almost running four or five in a month,” said Singh. “I almost ran four or five states back-to-back, Saturday in one state, Sunday in another state.”

He said he saved the best for last. Singh ran in the Coastal Delaware Running Festival in Rehoboth Beach on Sunday. When she heard about his idea, Lorikay Paden with the YMCA said she couldn’t believe it.

“Initially, I was like, ‘Who’s so crazy, they would run 50 marathons in a short period of time?” said Paden.

With 2,700 YMCAs spread across the nation, Paden said 50 of them can now say they’re connected through one person.

“I think it’s cool to have that common thread running through,” said Paden.

Ask Singh how he ran thousands of miles while maintaining a positive attitude, he’ll tell you it’s because running is his happy place.

“Running is not about just running– running, I can say, is therapy,” said Singh.  “Whenever you start running, everything goes away.”
