Five UMES students arrested in connection to violent threats made online
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Five University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) students have been arrested in connection to violent threats made online, according to school officials.
The UMES Department of Public Safety officers and Maryland State Police arrested the male students around 9:45 p.m. on Friday. School officials said they collaborated with State Police to ensure everyone on campus was protected from any potential threat to their wellbeing.
Police made the arrests outside a UMES residence hall, and the individuals remain in custody.
“The University of Maryland Eastern Shore prioritizes the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, and will cooperate fully with law enforcement when the safety of our campus community is threatened,” school officials stated on its Facebook page.
