Cambridge-SD softball opens season with win over Pocomoke

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Cambridge-South Dorchester softball won their season opener 9-1 on Friday against Pocomoke.

The Vikings led 4-0 after four innings, then used a five-run fifth to cement their lead.

Leadoff hitter Enazajah Young sparked the Cambridge offense with three runs scored, including an inside-the-park home run.

Emma Robinson pitched a complete game for the Vikings, allowing just one run while notching 13 strikeouts.

After the game, Robinson said, “It’s that we stayed up the whole game and we didn’t let go. I think we started out in the first inning a little slow but we kept picking up and we kept chipping away so we got the win.”

Enazajah Youn said, “My teammate here pitched an amazing game, she kept everybody off balance, and even if they did get a hit, it was a little one and didn’t advance anybody….As long as we keep our defense tight and offense running we should be good. I feel like we have a stronger team than any other year.”
