Wellness retreat for moms of children with special needs

EASTON, Md. – This weekend, the Hummingbird Inn in Easton will be hosting a 3-night wellness retreat for moms of children with special needs.

The weekend getaway is put on by A Mother’s Rest, a Maryland-based non-profit that focuses on creating low-cost wellness retreats exclusively for special needs parents and other full-time family caregivers.

The organization works with a lot of bed and breakfast partners around the country to host these discounted weekends so moms can get away and rest.

Organizer Andrea Faris Roberts says these retreats are important because there is an increasing amount of full-time family caregivers.

“It’s important to keep these caregivers healthy, give them opportunities for community and friendship and to decompress from the 24/7 support and work that they do at home with their children,” said Roberts.

The wellness retreat will take place from March 21-24.
