Ocean Pines man arrested for reported barricade situation involving a knife

A 75-year-old man has reportedly been arrested after a barricade situation Sunday afternoon.
The Ocean Pines Police Department says they received a complaint just after noon on Sunday afternoon regarding a domestic incident. Police say a victim told police that she and her father Alberto Dacanay were involved in a verbal argument and that he had a knife.
Ocean Pines Police Chief and members of the Maryland State Police and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office responded to the address. When they arrived, police say the victim ran towards officers crying.
The victim also reportedly told police that Dacanay had chased her, her mother, her husband and her three-year-old son out of the house with a knife.
While instructing the family with the three year son, police reportedly found the outside garage door open. The victim reportedly said that her father was walking out of the garage with the knife.
The Ocean Pines Police Chief allegedly saw the suspect standing in the garage with a large fixed bladed knife in his right hand. After seeing police, officers said Dacanay put the knife behind his lower back before going back inside the home, and barricading himself.
Police say Dacanay locked the doors in the home with furniture, preventing anyone from coming inside. Police said Dacanay then opened a window on the second story to the home and began speaking with officers.
Dacanay reportedly refused to come outside and said that he wanted his family to leave. Officers reportedly feared that Dacanay would be threatening to himself. Police also reportedly continued to try and get Dacanay out of the home.
Police say officers eventually got into the home, and arrested Dacanay for first and second degree assault.
