DHSS opens warming shelters

DELAWARE. – Delaware’s Red Cross chapter is opening its warming shelters to the public.

There are warming stations located in Kent and Sussex County, ready to accommodate folks in need of relief from the brutally cold temperatures.

Thomas Hall, with Delaware Health and Social Services department said this is a gateway for people to get the support they need during this frigid winter.

“What we made available is a place to come be warm and get assistance to the next place you’re going to be warm,” said Hall. “We’ll connect you with Code Purple, we’ll get you to a relative’s house, we’ll get you to wherever is going to put you in a place to be safe.”
