Local woman organizes coat drive for community members in need
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – A local woman is helping her community by collecting coats.
Kenisha Le’cole is encouraging folks to reach into their closets and pull out a gently used coat- or into their wallets to purchase a new coat- for local families in need.
The winter coat drive is in partnership with the Fruitland Police Department. You can drop your coats off at the location, which is open 24 hours a day. Le’cole said now is the time to help out a neighbor in need, especially with all the snow Delmarva has been hit with.
“As of right now, we can look outside and see how cold it is and there’s snow on the ground,” Le’Cole said. “Some of our children, older adults, people of all ages in our society don’t have the proper winter gear to be outside and be warm. I would say reach into your pockets, clean your closet out.”
You can drop of your coats until the end of the month. Coat distribution will take place on February 1.
