Perdue Stadium receives state funding for stadium improvements

On top of the initiative to combat the opioid epidemic, Governor Hogan also included almost $1 million to Perdue Stadium.
A proposed $980,000 is going towards improvements to the stadium. It's one of the final funding pieces for all the projects that have been happening over the years with funds coming from the state, the county, and their owner group.
Shorebirds General Manager Chris Bitters says since re-signing another 20 year lease from Wicomico County, they have had to make some improvements so they can accommodate those next two decades.
It started with behind the scenes updates to the stadium itself and now it's more fan-based improvements, like the new billboard and seats fans will see this upcoming season.
"This really brings us to current modern amenities for our fans over the next, you know, as we finish these phases as well as preparing us for what's expected in the future as well," explains Bitters.
The new billboard and seating will be ready just in time for opening day which is just two weeks away.
