Christian Shelter in Salisbury seeks community support this Giving Tuesday

SALISBURY, Md. – The Christian Shelter in Salisbury is hoping to the community will support them this Giving Tuesday. They’ve teamed up with the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for the online giving campaign: Shore Gives More.

The Christian Shelter is a transitional, temporary emergency shelter for those in some type of crisis.

“Whether it be physical crisis, emotional crisis or a spiritual crisis and we meet those particular needs to those who are in crisis,” explains Christian Shelter Executive Director Anthony Dickerson.

They welcome families and keep them together as they try to meet their needs. The shelter provides meals daily, clothing and even classes on life skills and financial management.

Officials say last year they were able to serve 937 people and they’re hoping the communities generosity will help them continue their mission.

“This year has been very challenging for us, our donations have been down,” says Dickerson. “We may have to cut back in some areas. We don’t want to have to do it, but we’re hoping that through giving Tuesday that the community will come through for us, the community will rally around and help invest into the Christian Shelter so that we will be able to continue to meet the needs of the homeless population.”

Officials have set a Giving Tuesday goal of $10,000. You can visit the Christian Shelter’s fundraising page by clicking here.
