KindSBY encouraging selfless acts on World Kindness Day
SALISBURY, Md. – Wednesday was World Kindness Day, a time for everyone to reflect on what we can do to spread joy in our communities.
Local organization KindSBY is encouraging you to find ways you can help spread kindness. Many times that takes the form of donating your time by volunteering, but the group says that even small gestures of thoughtfulness can add up and make a difference for those around you.
“The idea is to create opportunities where you think of others and step outside of yourselves. And what you’ll find is that often you end up receiving that boomerang effect where you’re stepping outside of yourself to do something for someone else. But it comes right back to you and it brings joy, mental health benefits,” said Heather Brooks, Executive Director of KindSBY.
She added that volunteering with organizations with like United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore is an easy way to get involved locally, especially with the holiday season approaching.
