Results are in for Wicomico County school climate survey

In Wicomico County, the results are in for the climate survey that over 12,000 students, parents, and school faculty participated in.
The survey, which was taken in December, was aimed at identifying exactly how the community felt about each schools climate.
Superintendent Donna Hanlin tells 47 ABC that this survey was a way for her to better understand the aspirations of what the community wanted for the school system.
She says the goal is to have a safe, productive environment for students and staff as well as establish a baseline for what each school needs to improve on.
"It's totally up to each individual school. Some schools are working with some outside experts who have worked with us who were actually responsible for the instruments that the actual survey used in our schools. They are going to be coming in and working side by side with school staff,' explains Hanlin.
Dr. Hanlin hopes that this survey will help officials develop strategies to improve some of the issues on a school-by-school basis.
