Worcester Tech’s FFA debate team brings home national honors from convention in Indianapolis
NEWARK, Md. – Five students at Worcester Technical High School are returning home with honors after traveling to the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
Congratulations are in order for Worcester Tech’s FFA debate team. The five students competed in the convention’s Agricultural Issues Forum and won third place. Their debate topic was “Effects of the Whitetail Deer Population on Farm Profits.”
We’re told that it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the talented students.
In a Facebook post, Worcester Tech FFA shared, “This team has been practicing since February, meeting with different groups/forums, presenting, changing their presentation, and supporting each other while being away from home.”
And, these are far from the only achievements for the students this year. In June, Worcester Tech was honored at the 96th annual Maryland FFA State Convention.
During that convention, state FFA officers announced the top teams and individuals in the career and leadership development events. Worcester Tech’s team took first place in the state’s version of the Agricultural Forum. Winning that competition enabled the team to participate in the big contest in Indianapolis.
