Last-second field goal lifts Tribe past Parkside

SALISBURY, Md. – Rowen Okerblom’s game-winning field goal in the final minutes lifted WiHi to the 9-7 win against the crosstown rival Rams Thursday night at County Stadium.

Parkside’s Tavian Deshiell caught a tipped pass from the WiHi quarterback and ran it back for a touchdown, and a 7-0 first half lead.

WiHi responded right back, as Jimmy Morton slipped a tackle and ran in for a score. The Tribe went for two, but their try was unsuccessful, and the score remained 7-6 late into the fourth.

The Tribe marched down to the red zone and set up Okerblom for a field goal with 16 seconds remaining. Okerblom came on and drilled the kick with room to spare.

WiHi recovered the ensuing onside kick to ice the game.
