Officials say firefighters responded to a fire in Bethany Beach on Tuesday morning.

According to the Bethany Beach Fire Department, at around 10:42 AM firefighters responded to the 39000 block of Heron Road.

No one was home at the time, but officials say that a Bethany Beach firefighter was taken to Beebe Medical Center for a minor hand injury.

Units from Millville, Roxana, Frankford, Rehoboth Beach, Dagsboro and Ocean City all responded to assist the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

Officials say that the fire was a second alarm fire because of the windy conditions. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. No other injuries were reported.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the fire's origin. Damages are estimated at $1 million.
