Easton PD announces passing of retired officer
EASTON, Md. – The Easton Police Department has announced the passing of Retired 1st/Sergeant Gordon Lee.
Gordon Lee was hired by the Easton Police Department in January 2001 after serving with the United States Marine Corps. Not long after his promotion to Corporal and as a current K9 Handler, he was appointed as a Supervisor of the K9 Unit, and remained a K9 Handler for roughly seven years.
Gordon was also a teacher and served as a Maryland Certified Instructor in academics and firearms for 17 years. He was recognized by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission as Instructor of the Year in 2016. Upon retirement, Gordon was serving as the department’s Training Coordinator and was instrumental in overseeing the department’s first Citizens Police Academy.
He received a total of 20 awards throughout his years of service, including Chief’s Award, 4-Commander’s Awards, Exceptional Service, Lifesaving, 2-Commendable Service awards, and a Bronze Star for his involvement in safely disarming a shooter suspect from a crowded area.
