Salisbury man sentenced for role in 2023 attempted armed robbery

1280 Satchell

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars for attempted armed robbery.

On August 20, 2023, police say 38-year-old Joshua Satchell and four co-conspirators targeted and robbed the victim and his friends at gunpoint while enjoying a backyard barbecue. When the victim turned to flee, he was reportedly shot in the back of the neck, subsequently paralyzing him. Satchell was not the one who fired the gun, however, officials say he participated in the robbery and is legally culpable for the events that led to the victim’s injury.

Satchell pled guilty in June to attempted armed robbery. Sentencing was postponed for a pre-sentence investigation, and Satchell remained behind bars pending the sentencing.
