Delaware State Fair showcases farm animals

HARRINGTON, Del. – For many years now the Delaware State Fair has been a chance for families to learn all about the different animals that play a big role in the First State.

This year, there are about 3,500 animals at the fair. Goats, horses, cows, sheep and more are all on display.

Kids who attend the fair will have the chance to learn about the importance of these animals and how they contribute to the state’s economy.

And, this year some kids will be able to dress up their own animals and compete for best in show.

Volunteers say the overall goal is to teach families new things about Delaware’s livestock.

“The livestock and agriculture here is extremely important to an industry here in Delaware and it’s all on exhibit here,” said the Delaware Grange President Michael Lynch.

“You can see, if you have children here and all that they can learn,” said Lynch.

Families will also get the chance to look at poultry and even rabbits at the fair.
