Youth training program needs community support

FRUITLAND, Md. – A program on Delmarva is trying to help youth stay focused on the right path.

At Off Street Sports Performance, youth have an opportunity to receive a high caliber of training to stay on the path to success. “I just come here and train strength conditioning every day, Monday through Friday during the week, I’ve been coming here since I was like eight years old with the kids. So it’s starting to pay off,” said Bryant Waters.

Bryant Waters, a sophomore at Widner University is just one of the program’s success stories. But, to bring on more kids, in need of resources, across the finish line, OSSP needs your help to keep them running. “We’re reaching out to potential sponsors and partnerships, you know, looking for donors, just people who are who also share the vision of OSP and say, we want to partner with that. We want to support you in that so that we can join hands with them and just continue to be the role holders for these kids,” said Jensi Shaw.

Dominick Flora saw the need for OSSP 20 years ago as a local teacher. “A lot of our youth did not participate in, you know, outside organizations for their sport that they were, you know, did well and so we kind of I saw that need and a little bit of guidance and kind of help them get into these leagues,” said Dominick Flora, President and Owner of OSSP.

Young adults and children get a chance to tighten up their skills on and off the field. “Receive professional training with sports performance, speed, agility, explosive development, and strength training. And then we also, you know, take it a step further where we help our youth with academic enrichment, tutoring, college readiness,” said Flora.

For the participants, program leaders say this is only the beginning of a brighter future.  “To be a safe place for them to be that stronghold of protection for them so that we can set them up for success and kind of send them into the next stage,” said Shaw.

OSSP is also working on adding a fellowship program for students to strengthen their faith.

It costs $2,500.00 per year per athlete to receive training through OSSP. You can help support the program by clicking here.

OSSP also opened a location in Frankford, Delaware.
