Good Morning Delmarva discusses Parkside High School’s horticulture program and its summer research

WMDT – Parkside High School’s horticulture program is student ran and grows a garden that helps support our community.

They are currently celebrating 10 years of their summer plant and global issues research.

This morning, Jerry Kelley and Katelyn Tyler, stopped by to tell us more about their research and program.

Kelley tells us this about giving students new opportunities and teach them about possible careers.

During the summer, students can choose between studying plants topics or global issues.

Tyler, a student, researched the South China Sea’s fishing crisis and presented her findings at the World Food Prize Awards at UMES.

She says it was an honor to be able to discuss such an important topic with so many leaders in the community.

Jerry Kelley says he was surprised by how passionate so many students are about the world and making a difference.
